Layout
This layout features Raito* (Light) of the manga (and now anime) Death Note. Raito is one of my favorite Death Note characters (the other two being Misa and L), for the sheer fact that he's literally insane. But then again, he isn't insane. Comparing his personality with and without the Death Note is very interesting for me.

I'm absolutely in love with the drawing style of Obata Takeshi, so I really wanted to reproduce it somehow. The image of Raito took me about six hours to do. This was very frustrating for me, considering I had never done anything on such a scale before. I used the pen tool for outlining, and the brush tool combined with vector masks for the coloring. Looking back, the outcome wasn't too bad, but ultimately the endeavor prompted me to buy a tablet which I've been practicing with ever since.

The layout in general is supposed to be a bit sinister with a splash of pizzaz. Keeping with my usual style it's also a bit simplistic. I decided to give blending options a rest, especially with the typography.

* I know there are brats out there who think Raito = weeaboo, but they can DIAF. :) Honestly, it shouldn't even matter either way. ... Unless you're an obsessive control freak, I guess. Used to having everything your way.

For You
Yes, this layout comes with some goodies. :)

I scanned these images from my 2007 Death Note calendar, so feel free to use them in graphics. No need to credit me, unless you're a super nice person, in which case I love you. =D

Old Layouts & Incarnations
There have been many incarnations of chocopai.net. It is however a shame that I only have archived versions of three of them. Well, actually, considering they're all ugly maybe that isn't such a bad thing. :D Click here if you're still interested. <3
